🎉 Exciting News for Our Milk Donors! 🎉

We are thrilled to share some fantastic news with our incredible milk donors! We are honored and excited to announce that our organization and milk donors will be featured in the upcoming book “Tits Up” by bestselling author Sarah Thornton. Set to hit the stands on May 7, 2024, this book promises to be a groundbreaking exploration of the social and cultural significance of breasts in today’s world.

After undergoing a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, Sarah Thornton found herself pondering a profound question: What had she lost? And what had she gained? With her characteristic sleuthing skills, Thornton embarked on a journey behind the scenes to uncover the diverse truths of mammary glands.

“Tits Up” promises to be a riotous and galvanizing read, delving into the myriad ways breasts are perceived and experienced—from the strip club to the operating room, from the fit rooms of bra designers to the nation’s oldest human milk banks (that’s us!). Thornton’s exploration draws insights from a wide array of perspectives, including plastic surgeons, lactation consultants, body-positive witches, lingerie models, and “free the nipple” activists.

Through her blend of sociology, reportage, and personal narrative, Thornton aims to liberate breasts from centuries of patriarchal prejudice. She confronts chauvinist myths head-on, exposing how they quietly perpetuate deficits in women’s bodily autonomy and endorse shortfalls in their political status.

During her research, Thornton conducted insightful interviews with a diverse range of individuals affiliated with the Mothers’ Milk Bank. Among them were dedicated milk donors who generously contribute to our mission. In fact, Sarah interviewed over a dozen people associated with the Mothers’ Milk Bank, including 5 milk donors and 1 recipient whose stories are shared in “Tits Up.”

For our milk donors, this recognition is a testament to the importance of your contributions. Your selfless act of donating breast milk not only supports the health and well-being of fragile infants but also contributes to larger conversations about femininity, bodily autonomy, and societal norms.

We couldn’t be prouder to be included in “Tits Up” and to stand alongside other voices working towards a more inclusive and empowering future for women everywhere. Thank you for being part of this journey with us, and we can’t wait to see the impact this book will have when it launches on May 7, 2024!

Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s continue to celebrate the power and beauty of breasts together! 🌟
